In the United States, original episodes of season four aired between October 3, 2008 and May 15, 2009. Four airdates on other networks and in other countries, see: International Airdates. Season four had a total of five main characters, Melinda, Jim, Ned, Delia, and newcomer Eli. Rick was a main last season but left the show in the first episode of the season as a special guest star. Season four follows Melinda as she guides Eli James, a person who had a near-death experience and can now hear ghosts. Melinda also suffers from Jim's untimely death and mourns her loss. However, Jim refuses to cross over and steps-in a body, coming back to life as Sam Lucas, but has no memory of his life with Melinda.

Main Plot Points[]
Season Four still concentrates on Melinda Gordon getting visits from earthbound spirits in need of her help. Meanwhile, Melinda discovers a man who can hear ghosts, but can't see them, and she guides him on how to use this gift for good. Also, Jim gets killed and his spirit steps into a dead man's body, bringing him to life but forgets about Melinda and his life with her.
